Prevalence of Dental Problems :
- About 60-80% of Indian children suffer from dental caries, with a higher prevalence in primary dentition (64-78%) compared to permanent dentition (18-67%) ¹.
- Approximately 85-90% of Indian adults have dental cavities.
- Around 30% of Indian children have misaligned jaws and teeth .
Treatment and Awareness :
- Unfortunately, over 50% of Indians with dental health issues receive treatment or advice from someone other than a dentist, such as chemists.
- Only about 51% of Indians use a toothbrush and toothpaste to brush their teeth, and a mere 28% brush their teeth the recommended two times a day.
- The Indian Dental Association (IDA) has launched the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) to address the oral health crisis in India.
